چکیده

We report ultrafast response of femtosecond photoexcited carriers in single layer reduced graphene oxide flakes suspended in water as well as few layer thick film deposited on indium tin oxide coated glass plate using pump-probe differential transmission spectroscopy at 790 nm. The carrier relaxation dynamics has three components: ~200 fs, 1 to 2 ps, and ~ 25 ps, all of them independent of pump fluence. It is seen that the second component (1 to 2 ps) assigned to the lifetime of hot optical phonons is larger for graphene in suspensions whereas other two time constants are the same for both the suspension and the film. The value of third order nonlinear susceptibility estimated from the pumpprobe experiments is compared with that obtained from the open aperture Z-scan results for the suspension.

Ultrafast Lateral Photo-Dember Effect in Graphene Induced by Nonequilibrium Hot Carrier Dynamics.

The photo-Dember effect arises from the asymmetric diffusivity of photoexcited electrons and holes, which creates a transient spatial charge distribution and hence the buildup of a voltage. Conventionally, a strong photo-Dember effect is only observed in semiconductors with a large asymmetry between the electron and hole mobilities, such as in GaAs or InAs, and is considered negligible in graph...

Evidence for extraction of photoexcited hot carriers from graphene.

We report evidence of nonequilibrium hot carrier extraction from graphene by gate-dependent photocurrent study. Scanning photocurrent excited by femtosecond pulse laser shows unusual gate dependence compared with continuous wave (CW) laser excitation. Power dependence studies further confirm that the photocarriers extracted at the metal/graphene contact are nonequilibrium hot carriers. Hot carr...

Fabrication of Graphene Oxide Thin Films on Transparent Substrate via a Low-Voltage Electrodeposion Technique

Graphene oxide (GO) thin films were simply deposited on fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) substrate via a low-voltage electrodeposition. The GO and GO thin films were characterized by Zeta Potential, X-ray diffraction, Ultraviolet-Visible spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectrosc...

Hot carrier diffusion in graphene

We report an optical study of charge transport in graphene. Diffusion of hot carriers in epitaxial graphene and reduced graphene-oxide samples are studied using an ultrafast pump-probe technique with a high spatial resolution. Spatiotemporal dynamics of hot carriers after a pointlike excitation are monitored. Carrier-diffusion coefficients of 11 000 and 5500 cm2 s−1 are measured in epitaxial gr...

Very slow cooling dynamics of photoexcited carriers in graphene observed by optical-pump terahertz-probe spectroscopy.

Using optical-pump terahertz-probe spectroscopy, we study the relaxation dynamics of photoexcited carriers in graphene at different substrate temperatures. We find that at lower temperatures the tail of the relaxation transients measured by the differential probe transmission become slower, extending beyond several hundred picoseconds below 50 K. We interpret the observed relaxation transients ...
